The following is a list of tutorials on how to maintain the website

1. Website Overview and Basic Structure

2. How to Import the Roster into the Website

A detailed video on the process to upload the roster to the website. This updates all the animals and their status. This is done weekly. All animal data and status, are updated via the roster, not the website.

3. How to Import Photos into the Website

This includes photo editing, image formats, website upload and One Drive Archive. In the linked video, I use the free software, Adobe Bridge with Adobe Photoshop (not free) but you can use any editing software of your choice as long as you can export a photo into the following format to ensure a good balance between website speed and photo quality along with a consistent look with no stretched or distorted images of our animals.

  • .jpeg format
  • jpeg Quality set to 50%
  • 4×3 Landscape orientation
  • 640×400 px
  • Auto White Balanced
  • Auto Color Corrected

A separate, Full Resolution edited photo is also saved in our One Drive account. Photos are stored under the Animal Data Folder in each individual animal’s file. This full resolution photo is stored for use in promotional materials and to submit to OC Register.

4. Email Blast Cat of the Week

Cat of the Week is automated on the website. The web site looks at the COTW column on the Roster and automatically posts the current cat of the week. Only one date can be in the COTW column on the Roster. If a cat is repeating, the old date needs to be deleted and the new date replaces the old. The web site does not automatically send out the email blast. This is to prevent accidentally sending the email when not intended. Instructions on how to initiate the COTW email blast is in the video below.
