Get to know Ferguson
Ferguson was born February 8, 2017 and came to DREAM just two days later!! He came with his mom (Rose) and 3 siblings (we called them the rosebuds) and was a healthy happy kitten! Since being with DREAM he has seen his brother and sisters and even his Mom get adopted and still he waits! Well it turns out he may have known he needed to stay with us so we could care for him.
A short while ago his Foster family noticed that after his rambunctious playtime (he LOVES to play) that he would pant and breathe very heavily. The condition seemed to get worse as the days went by so we took him to the vet. After exam, blood tests, etc it was believed that he may have asthma and/or allergies. We switched his litter, changed his food and made the other vet suggested changes. Nothing seemed to be getting any better and suddenly his condition seemed to get much worse. He was immediately taken in for xrays. The vet said his breathing was so labored that he was afraid to turn him on his back for the straight on chest xray so only the side angle was taken. The xrays showed that Ferg had VERY congested lungs and there was also fluid in his belly! This appears to be something much more serious than asthma but further testing must be done. Speculation is that he may have congestive heart failure but he is only 1 year and 3 months old! We are devastated! He is a GREAT kitty.
Today Ferg is going to Southern California Veterinary Specialty Hospital via emergency appointment. ($160) He will for sure need an ultrasound and possibly other diagnostics and better xrays. This testing is expensive and could lead to thousands in vet bills! I will update with a more accurate number and copies of estimates.
Ferguson is one of the best cats ever, he is so outgoing and playful! He loves to play with his foster brother Bolt and Foster doggie sister Samantha…a big German Shepherd! He is not himself at all now and cannot play because he can’t breathe!! Please help us raise money to get him the help he needs!!
